Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz (1646-1716) était un philosophe, mathématicien, physicien, historien et diplomate allemand, considéré comme l'un des derniers génies universels. Il est notamment connu pour avoir développé le calcul différentiel et intégral indépendamment de Newton, ainsi que pour sa philosophie rationaliste et sa théorie des monades.
